How to Perform CPR on Adults, Children & Infants: A Step-by-Step Guide

CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is a life-saving skill that everyone should know. In an emergency, the first few minutes are critical. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to performing CPR correctly. **Step 1: Check Responsiveness** Gently tap the person and shout “Are you okay?” If there’s no response, call emergency services immediately. **Step 2: Open the Airway** Tilt the head back slightly and lift the chin to open the airway. **Step 3: Check for Breathing** Look, listen, and feel for normal breathing for no more than 10 seconds. **Step 4: Start Chest Compressions** Place the heel of your hand on the center of the chest. Push hard and fast – at least 5-6 cm deep and 100-120 compressions per minute. **Step 5: Give Rescue Breaths** After 30 compressions, give 2 rescue breaths. Tilt the head, lift the chin, pinch the nose, and breathe into the mouth. Continue cycles of 30 compressions and 2 breaths until help arrives or the person starts breathing.
